Those words stopped me cold.

After more than a decade apart, my former postdoc advisor — 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐌. 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬, a founding father of microfluidics — spent 20 minutes carefully examining, tinkering with, poking, and prodding the final prototype of our 𝐁𝐍𝐗 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 and 𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 during a visit to Harvard.

I sat there, nervously awaiting his verdict.
