Our Leadership Team

Alex Nemiroski, PhD.
Founder & CEO
Dr. Alex Nemiroski is a scientist-engineer and entrepreneur at the helm of BioNexus, San Diego’s leading bio-consumables foundry. He guides the company’s strategy and technology roadmap, delivering advanced consumables, surface coatings, and fluidics systems that bridge the gap from prototype to commercial product.
Trained under Professor George Whitesides at Harvard, Alex has led R&D efforts at Illumina, Omniome, and PacBio. He helped develop Illumina’s original NovaSeq flow cell and built Omniome’s consumables division from scratch—contributing to its $800M acquisition by PacBio in 2021 and the launch of the world’s most accurate short-read sequencing platform ever.
Alex holds over 20 publications and patents spanning microfluidics, nanofabrication, biosensing, and soft materials. At BioNexus, he blends deep technical vision with real-world insights to accelerate the transition from risky concept to proven product.

Julian Alberni
Head of Development & Manufacturing
Julian Alberni is an expert in the deep integration of engineering and science that it takes a deliver world class microfluidic products, with a deep expertise in consumables for next-generation DNA sequencing. At BioNexus, he leads our unified engineering and science teams across chip architecture, surface chemistry, prototyping, and integration—turning complex biological workflows into scalable, manufacturable products.
Julian brings experience from senior roles at PacBio and Omniome, where he guided consumables development through rapid growth and acquisition. His earlier work at Neofluidics and UC San Diego advanced core microfluidic technologies, and his foundation in precision engineering began with hands-on experience as a U.S. Air Force technician.
Julian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from UC San Diego, where he earned Provost Honors and was selected for the prestigious Frontiers of Innovation Scholars Program. His work embodies the intersection of technical excellence and real-world biological performance—vital to enabling the next generation of life science tools.
“BioNexus is not only a team of outstanding scientists and engineers but also a group of genuinely good people to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking a top-tier contract development and manufacturing partner.”
